Jefferson Institute Breaks Ground on MFA Children’s Barn

WHAT: MFA Children’s Barn groundbreaking

WHO: MFA Incorporated, MFA Oil Company, MFA Foundation and Jefferson Institute

WHEN: Wednesday September 26, 2007, 1 – 1:30 p.m.

WHERE: Jefferson Farm & Gardens

4800 New Haven Road, one mile east of U.S. Highway 63

WHY: Jefferson Farm & Gardens will educate visitors on the importance of agriculture, which produces food, clothing, cosmetics and many other products regularly consumed by Americans. The MFA Children’s Barn will offer visitors a chance to explore the role of animals in agriculture. See attached “Missouri Animal Agriculture Quick Facts” for details on the importance of animal agriculture to Missouri.

Inside the barn and with interpretive assistance from Jefferson Institute staff, visitors will be able to see common Missouri farm animals up close. Also, informational exhibits will explore topics such as livestock breeds used in the U.S., animal nutrition and grazing management systems.
